Recently, the "New Energy Lithium Carbonate Project" of Gansu Gongqi Weifu Environmental Protection Co., Ltd., located in Honggu District, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, obtained a hazardous waste operation license and officially commenced operations, marking the project's full entry into the operational phase. It is reported that the project has a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan and uses solid waste from electrolytic aluminum production enterprises in Gansu and neighboring provinces as raw materials. It is capable of processing 100,000 tons of waste electrolyte and 800,000 tons of hazardous waste from the electrolytic aluminum industry (carbon slag and major repair slag) annually, while also purchasing crude lithium carbonate for purification. Upon reaching full production capacity and meeting standards, the project will process 900,000 tons of industrial waste annually, producing 50,000 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate, 300,000 tons of cryolite, 115,000 tons of carbon powder, and 84 million solid concrete bricks, achieving an annual output value exceeding 3 billion yuan. In the future, Gansu will focus on the lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide battery and lithium iron phosphate battery industries, striving to enhance the overall development level of the lithium battery industry and aiming to build a nationally leading new energy battery industry base.
