Chempricehub Alert: Inner Mongolia's 200,000-ton Green Methanol Project Approved
Published on 2026-01-07
January 7th News: Recently, the 200,000-ton green methanol integrated project utilizing new energy green power hydrogen production and biomass coupling in Guyang County, Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has been approved for filing. Chempricehub's analysis of methanol shows a long-short score: -1. This project, which produces 200,000 tons of green methanol through the coupling of new energy and biomass, will significantly increase market supply and is expected to exert downward pressure on spot prices, potentially leading to a decline in spot prices. Considering the latest methanol futures data (such as the closing price of the main contract 2605 at 2,293 yuan/ton, up by 40 yuan), the expectation of new supply may suppress the upward momentum of futures prices and increase the risk of future price declines. A score of -1.0 indicates a generally bearish outlook, as the project is of moderate scale but the supply increase is clear.
