Chempricehub Alert: Weak Consolidation of Toluene and Xylene in South China
Published on 2026-02-13
February 13 — The mainstream quotation range for toluene in the South China market today is 5,430–5,500 yuan/ton, down 50 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. Sinopec South China Company’s listed toluene prices are as follows: Guangzhou Petrochemical at 5,500 yuan/ton, Maoming Petrochemical at 5,500 yuan/ton, and Zhongke Refining & Chemical at 5,500 yuan/ton. Spot trading tends to be sluggish before the Spring Festival, with the domestic toluene and xylene markets consolidating sideways. Overnight crude oil prices fell sharply, coupled with weak futures trends for pure benzene and PX, exerting bearish pressure on the aromatics market. It is expected that the toluene and xylene markets will remain weak and consolidate overall before the Spring Festival. Chempricehub Analysis: Toluene, Bull-Bear Score: -1 Spot toluene quotations in the South China market fell by 50 yuan/ton to 5,430–5,500 yuan/ton, indicating price pressure. Trading is sluggish before the Spring Festival, with the market consolidating sideways. Combined with the sharp overnight decline in crude oil and weak futures for pure benzene and PX, bearish pressure has intensified. It is expected that the market will remain weak and consolidate before the holiday, with weak supply and demand dynamics driving the downward trend in spot prices. Xylene, Bull-Bear Score: -1 The spot xylene market is influenced by the movement of toluene, with sluggish trading and sideways consolidation before the Spring Festival. The decline in crude oil prices and weak aromatics futures (such as pure benzene and PX) have exacerbated bearish sentiment in the market. It is expected that the market will remain weak and consolidate overall before the holiday, with spot prices facing downward pressure.
