March 4th News — LG Energy Solution recently announced that it will transform its battery factory in Lansing, Michigan, USA, into a dedicated production base for square lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries used in energy storage systems, with Tesla as the end customer. Over the past few years, the square LFP cells used in Tesla's Megapack have primarily been sourced from CATL. Chempricehub Analysis of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP): Bull-Bear Score: 1.5 LG Energy Solution's announcement to repurpose its U.S. factory for the production of square LFP batteries for energy storage systems, with Tesla as the end customer, directly increases the demand for lithium iron phosphate. Tesla's Megapack previously relied mainly on CATL for supply, and LG Energy Solution's entry into this space indicates an expansion in market demand, which may drive up spot prices for lithium iron phosphate. Strong growth on the demand side dominates as a favorable factor, but potential risks of oversupply should be monitored. A score of 1.5 reflects a relatively strong bullish outlook, as new production capacity and partnerships with major customers are expected to lead to a moderate short-term increase in spot prices.
