Chempricehub Important Reminder: Methanol prices in the international market have declined across the board.
Published on 2026-02-03
February 3rd News — On February 2nd, methanol prices in the international market closed lower: CFR Southeast Asia methanol market settled at $322.5–323.5 per ton. FOB U.S. Gulf methanol market settled at 100.5–101.5 cents per gallon, down 4 cents per gallon; FOB Rotterdam methanol market in Europe settled at €297.5–298.5 per ton. Chempricehub's analysis of methanol shows a bearish score of -1.5. The report indicates a widespread decline in methanol prices in the international market: CFR Southeast Asia settled at $322.5–323.5 per ton, FOB U.S. Gulf fell by 4 cents per gallon to 100.5–101.5 cents per gallon, and FOB Rotterdam in Europe settled at €297.5–298.5 per ton. This suggests a global oversupply or weak demand for methanol, which could negatively impact domestic spot prices, as lower import costs may increase supply pressure in the market. Combined with methanol futures data (such as the MA2605 contract closing down 55 yuan to 2,252 yuan per ton, with open interest decreasing by 13,790 lots), the futures market has already shown a downward trend. The reduction in open interest reflects strengthening bearish sentiment, and it is expected that futures prices will face further downward pressure. The overall score is -1.5, indicating a generally bearish outlook, as the decline in the international market is significant but not yet at an extreme level.
