February 11th news - According to customs data, from January to December 2025, China imported 12.924 million tons of crude salt, a year-on-year decrease of 8.1%. The main sources were: India with 9.876 million tons, accounting for 76.4%; Australia with 2.735 million tons, accounting for 21.2%; and Mexico with 263,000 tons, accounting for 2.0%. During the same period, China exported 949,000 tons of crude salt, a year-on-year increase of 43.6%. The main destinations were: Japan with 509,000 tons, accounting for 53.6%; South Korea with 276,000 tons, accounting for 29.1%; and the Republic of Congo with 27,000 tons, accounting for 2.8%. Chempricehub analysis of crude salt, with a bullish-bearish score of 1.5: The year-on-year decrease of 8.1% in imports has led to relatively tight domestic supply, while the significant year-on-year increase of 43.6% in exports indicates strong international demand. The combination of these two factors is favorable for the domestic spot price of crude salt. It is expected that the spot market will exhibit a supply-tight pattern, driving an upward trend in prices.
