On April 24 - On April 22, the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Korea issued Announcement No. 2026-76, imposing a provisional anti-dumping duty on butyl acrylate (HS Code: 2916.12.3000) originating from China, with tariff rates ranging from 9.53% to 19.17%: Shanghai Huayi New Materials 9.53%, Taixing Sun-Chemical 11.88%, Pinghu Petrochemical and others 19.17%. The measure took effect on the same day, with a validity period of four months, ending on August 21, 2026. The anti-dumping investigation was initiated on September 29, 2025, with the dumping investigation period covering the full year of 2024, and the injury investigation period spanning from January 1, 2021, to June 30, 2025. On February 12, 2026, a preliminary affirmative determination was made in this case. According to Chempricehub’s assessment of butyl acrylate, the bullish-bearish score is -1.5. Korea’s imposition of a provisional anti-dumping duty ranging from 9.53% to 19.17% will directly reduce China’s export volume to Korea, leading to inventory accumulation and increased supply among domestic producers, thereby exerting significant downward pressure on spot prices. Although the duty rates are relatively high and the measure takes immediate effect, the market had already partially priced in expectations following the preliminary ruling. The impact is considered between moderate and significantly bearish.
