Reactor design is paramount: a 10 cubic meter reactor requires condenser area exceeding 40 square meters, and 3 cubic meter units need over 25 square meters, otherwise incomplete reaction leads to high solids content, inaccurate conversion rates, and low yields. Cooling system capacity is equally vital to prevent runaway reactions and material loss. Equipment must be high-grade stainless steel, as carbon steel contaminates resin color irreversibly. Cross-contamination between thermoplastic and thermosetting resins in shared reactors causes haze or milkiness that cannot be salvaged. Moisture in raw materials or solvents also causes opacity, especially in high-viscosity resins.
