Acrylic Emulsion Market Morning Briefing (20260908)

Published on 2026-09-08

I. Market Focus

  1. On Sep 7: The US-Iran conflict is still unresolved, Saudi oil facilities were attacked, supply risks remain, and international oil prices rose. NYMEX crude oil futures were closed for the US Labor Day holiday with no settlement price. ICE Brent crude futures for November rose $0.72/bbl to $97/bbl, up 0.75% from the previous session. China's INE crude oil futures for the 2610 contract rose 5.4 yuan/bbl to 688.5 yuan/bbl, and rose another 11.9 yuan/bbl to 700.4 yuan/bbl in the night session.

  2. The domestic MMA market was stable yesterday. Raw materials continued to run firm, supporting holders' sentiment. There was little intention to offer concessions in negotiation, and the market maintained a consolidation pattern, with actual transactions mainly small lots. The domestic MMA market is expected to see limited fluctuation in the short term.

  3. The domestic butyl acrylate market consolidated at high levels yesterday. As feedstock n-butanol supply increased, prices moved stably with a slight weakening bias, and cost pressure on butyl acrylate eased somewhat. Holders maintained high-level, firm offers. Some downstream plants followed up with inquiries based on rigid demand, and actual transaction negotiations remained centered at high levels. Today, feedstock n-butanol is likely to fluctuate and consolidate, while the butyl acrylate market is expected to remain in high-level consolidation. Future market direction should focus on changes in supply and downstream demand.

III. Market Outlook

Yesterday, butyl acrylate and MMA ran stably, while the styrene market center shifted upward. Cost pressure from the raw material side remained strong, prompting acrylic emulsion producers to keep offers firm despite the pressure. Downstream end users mostly made inquiries with negotiation intent, keeping the market transaction center stable. Today, upstream raw materials are likely to remain firm at high levels. Supported by costs, emulsion producers have a strong price-supporting attitude. Downstream demand is only for rigid needs, with purchasing mainly for replenishment on an as-needed basis. Mainstream market transactions are expected to stay stable. Future developments should be tracked through butyl acrylate, MMA, styrene feedstock, and downstream market trends.

Rising crude keeps feedstock cost firm, but butyl acrylate consolidation and stable MMA give mixed signals. With downstream demand still cautious, I’d expect acrylic emulsion prices to hold near current levels rather th..
