Analysis of China's Sulfur Production Data (July 2026)

Published on 2026-08-31

In July 2026, China's sulfur production was 837,500 metric tons, an increase of 21,800 tons from the previous period, up 2.67% month-on-month (MoM) and down 18.03% year-on-year (YoY).

II. Production Trend Forecast Analysis

In August 2026, units at Shenghong Refining & Chemical and Shaanxi Future Energy are expected to resume production, and output at some refineries in East China is expected to increase. Domestic production in August is expected to grow slightly.

III. Production Trend vs. Product Price Comparison

In July 2026, China's monthly sample sulfur production decreased by 18.66% MoM. As a by-product, sulfur is mainly sourced from crude oil, natural gas, coal, and other feedstocks. Its correlation with price is low, and output mainly depends on maintenance schedules of production units and sulfur content. On the supply side, units at Chuandongbei Gas Field, Shaanxi Future Energy, and Shangneng Petrochemical resumed production; Yulong Petrochemical increased supply; and Hainan Refining & Chemical and Shenghong Refining & Chemical were shut down for maintenance. Overall, domestic monthly production increased slightly this month.

Sample note: On the data release date, Chempricehub Information compiled the designed capacities of 135 sulfur enterprises in China, with a capacity coverage rate of over 95%.
