Butyl Acrylate Morning Brief (20260911)

Published on 2026-09-11

I. Focus Points

  1. Propylene prices in the East China market edged up slightly. By the close, the mainstream East China market price was 10,000 yuan/tonne ex-tank; the Ningbo mainstream price was 10,100 yuan/tonne ex-tank; and the delivered price in southern Jiangsu was around 10,100 yuan/tonne. Propylene cost support remains firm, pushing offers further upward. However, downstream buying interest has turned cautious, with evident resistance to high-priced deals, capping the upside for actual transactions.

  2. The Jiangsu n-butanol market was referenced at 8,750-8,750 yuan/tonne ex-warehouse. Market prices have risen continuously; with feedstock propylene moving higher, cost-side support has strengthened further. Market supply is limited while downstream purchasing interest is increasing, lifting the market's trading center of gravity.

II. Price Table

Unit: yuan/tonne

Product Region Sept 9 Sept 10 Change
Propylene East China 9800-10100 9900-10100 100/0
n-Butanol East China 8500-8500 8750-8750 250/250
Acrylic acid East China 7700-7800 7900-8000 200/200
Butyl acrylate East China 9200-9300 9400-9500 200/200
Tape jumbo roll Jiangyin 10300-10500 10400-10600 100/100
Note: 1. Products are RMB tax-inclusive prices; unit: yuan/tonne
2. Prices for the two periods are point-in-time prices from the previous two working days
3. The change rate is the month-on-month variation

Yesterday, the domestic butyl acrylate market ran firm and upward. Feedstock n-butanol continued its broad-based rise, placing pronounced pressure on butyl acrylate's cost side; holders actively supported the market with firm offers, while some downstream plants followed up with need-based inquiries, and the center of actual negotiations rose firmly and broadly. Feedstock n-butanol is expected to remain firm at highs today on cost-side pressure, and the butyl acrylate market is expected to continue running firm at elevated levels. Going forward, close attention should be paid to changes in market supply and downstream demand for direction.

III. Data Table

Data Type Sept 3 Sept 10 Change Expectation
Acrylic acid industry capacity utilization rate 70.70% 69.41% -1.29%
Butyl acrylate industry capacity utilization rate 56.32% 56.04% -0.28%
Acrylic acid industry production profit margin -3.29% -1.89% 1.40%
Butyl acrylate industry production profit margin -10.60% -12.27% -1.67%
1. Capacity utilization rate is the ratio of producers' unit output to capacity, an indicator reflecting production
2. Production profit margin is industry-level data reflecting the overall profitability of the industry in mainstream regions, expressed as industry profit as a percentage of price
3. The prices for the two periods are point-in-time prices from the two working weeks prior to this week, not weekly average prices
4. The change rate is the month-on-month rate of change

I see cost push from propylene and n-butanol is lifting acrylate chain, but cautious downstream buying may cap margin upside; watch capacity utilization and feedstock cost pass-through.
