Cabot and Volkswagen PowerCo SE Forge Multi-Year Partnership to Supply Conductive Materials for Electric Vehicle Batteries

Published on 2026-01-14

Recently, Cabot Corporation announced the signing of a multi-year supply agreement with PowerCo SE, the battery manufacturing subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group. Under the agreement, Cabot will supply advanced conductive carbon black and conductive slurries to PowerCo SE for use in the production of electric vehicle battery electrodes. The high-performance conductive additive solutions provided are specifically designed to enhance battery conductivity and energy conversion efficiency, enabling higher energy density, faster charging speeds, and longer cycle life, thereby optimizing the overall performance of lithium-ion batteries. In addition to the core products covered by the agreement, Cabot offers a diverse portfolio of conductive additives and slurries tailored to meet the performance optimization needs of batteries in various applications, including electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and consumer electronics. Zhu Ji, Executive Vice President of Cabot Corporation, Global President of Carbon and Silica Technologies and Battery Materials, and President of the Asia-Pacific Region, stated, "This collaboration not only marks Cabot's entry as a leading conductive materials supplier in the European electric vehicle battery market but also fully demonstrates our technological R&D capabilities and large-scale production capacity—enabling us to continuously meet the growing global demand for high-performance conductive additives."
