Petroleum benzene production totaled 426,200 tons. This represents a decrease of 4,100 tons from the previous cycle, or -0.95%. Capacity utilization stood at 70.34%, down 0.68% compared to the last period. During this cycle, units such as Wudi Xinyue restarted, while others like Maoming Reformer shut down.
The operating rate of domestic benzene hydrogenation units was 59.84%, an increase of 4.81% from the previous week. Weekly hydrogenated benzene production in China reached 79,400 tons, up 6,400 tons from the prior week. Within the week, Baowu Carbon’s Shanghai unit shut down, while Hebei Rongte, Henan Yutian’s first line, and Henan Jinyuan’s second phase all restarted.
Capacity utilization for major downstream products—styrene, caprolactam, phenol, aniline, and adipic acid—declined this week. For styrene, Dagu and Shell each took one production line offline for scheduled maintenance. Caprolactam operating loads decreased. In phenol, Huizhou Zhongxin’s phenol-acetone unit resumed operations after a brief shutdown, while Yangzhou Shiyou and Guangxi Huayi phenol-acetone units remain shut down. Regarding aniline, Shandong Jinling’s 200,000-ton/year unit underwent maintenance from September 28 to October 20; Shanxi Tianji’s unit is under maintenance from October 12 to October 27; Jilin Xuyang Kangnai’er’s first line is undergoing maintenance from October 13 to October 26; and Dongying Caijin is conducting rolling inspections and catalyst replacement from October 2 to October 16. Adipic acid units operated at reduced loads.
Looking ahead to the next period, considering recent maintenance activities and restarts, capacity utilization for styrene, phenol, and adipic acid is expected to rise. Conversely, capacity utilization for caprolactam and aniline is projected to decline.
