Chempricehub Alert: Acrylonitrile Imports Decrease While Average Price Rises in January 2026
Published on 2026-03-20

March 20th News: According to customs data, China's propylene imports in January 2026 amounted to 179,900 tons, a decrease of 4.46% month-on-month and an increase of 5.43% year-on-year. The average price was $752.49 per ton, up 0.9% month-on-month. Chempricehub analysis of propylene, with a bullish-bearish score of 1, indicates that the month-on-month decline of 4.46% in propylene imports in January 2026 may tighten supply and push up spot prices. The month-on-month increase of 0.9% in the average price reflects strong market demand, which is favorable for the spot market. Combined with propylene futures data from the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (such as the settlement price of the 2605 contract at 8,768 yuan/ton and the 2606 contract at 8,542 yuan/ton), reduced imports may reinforce expectations of supply tightness, supporting upward movement in futures prices, especially with active trading in the main contract (2605 volume of 19,740 lots), which is overall favorable for the futures market.
