China Butadiene Inventory Weekly Statistics (2026-08-27 to 2026-09-02)

Published on 2026-09-03

During this cycle (August 27–September 2), domestic butadiene inventory declined, with total sample inventory down 4.48% from the prior cycle. Among this, sample enterprise inventory rose 0.70% week on week. As raw material prices stayed at a high level, downstream follow-through buying on essential demand was somewhat weak, leading to minor fluctuations in enterprise inventory. Sample port inventory fell 7.09% week on week; imported cargo arrivals at ports remained limited during the period, while downstream digested raw materials normally, so inventory continued to decline.

Sample description: Butadiene production enterprise inventory comprises stocks held by PetroChina, Sinopec, and other enterprises, covering 45% of total domestic butadiene production capacity. The production enterprise inventory sample consists of 19 enterprises.

Butadiene port inventory is a sample inventory for the East China region, with commercial tank farm samples accounting for 100% of the total. The port inventory sample consists of 9 tank farms, including 4 commercial tank farms and 5 enterprise raw-material tank farms.

Term explanation: China's butadiene production enterprise and sample tank farm inventories are physical inventory quantities, referring to the actual quantity of products stored in warehouses at a given point in time.

Statistical caliber: Chempricehub Information's statistical cycle for China butadiene inventory is based on data as of Wednesday of each week, with data released before 17:00 every working Thursday.

I see butadiene inventory fell 4.48% w/w, port down 7.09% on limited imports, enterprises +0.70% as high feedstock costs curb downstream buying. Tightness may support sentiment, but weak margins keep restocking muted.
