As of September 9, 2026, total methanol port inventory in China stood at 551,500 tons, down 96,000 tons from the previous reporting period. By region, East China de-stocked, with inventory down 47,700 tons, while South China also de-stocked, with inventory down 48,300 tons.
This week, methanol port inventory continued to post a substantial drawdown, with 96,000 tons of visible cargo discharged from international vessels during the period. In Jiangsu, mainstream storage areas along the Yangtze River saw good load-out supported by restocking demand, and other outlying storage areas were additionally supported by export vessel loadings; demand in Zhejiang remained steady on essential needs. South China port inventory continued to decline this week. In Guangdong, only a small volume of domestic vessels supplemented supply, while some transshipment cargoes supported load-out, and truck-transport demand was mainly for essential needs, pushing inventory to a new low. In Fujian, no vessels arrived at port during the period; downstream users maintained essential procurement, and inventory declined correspondingly.

Sample description: The methanol port inventory sample covers real-time physical methanol inventory at 40 storage areas across China, with a sample coverage rate of 75%.
Terminology explanation: Port inventory refers to the total physical inventory of a specified commodity actually stored in warehouses or storage tanks at ports within a given period, including commodities in bonded zones but excluding cargo on board vessels at the port. Among these, visible inventory and visible unloading refer to inventory in storage areas within the statistical sample and unloading volumes discharged into those sampled storage areas; non-visible items refer to the opposite. That is, the port inventory currently compiled by this network does not include Tianjin, Lianyungang, Dalian, Laizhou, Longkou, the Nanjing Qingjiang storage area, the Nantong Sinochem storage area, the Shanghai Dongfang terminal, the Shanghai Vopak Caojing terminal, the Zhejiang Zhoushan Yushan terminal, Sinochem Yangzhou, Guangdong Huizhou Dagang, or Guangdong Maoming Bohe.
Statistical scope: Chempricehub Information's methanol port inventory figures are real-time inventory data collected from methanol storage areas every Wednesday. They are first-hand statistics, released at 14:00 every Wednesday (working day).
