During this period, the fluctuation range of domestic DOP market prices in Jiangsu was 10,150–10,650 CNY/ton (delivered). Throughout the week, the DOP market pulled back from high levels. During the price decline, end-users adopted a cautious purchasing stance, while traders frequently engaged in short-selling operations. Low-price transactions were reported often, leading to a rapid drop in prices. As the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday approached, crude oil prices rose, prompting some end-users to make opportunistic purchases based on essential demand at the lower price end. Traders also covered some short positions through moderate restocking. By the reporting deadline, trading sentiment had improved, supporting a rebound in prices; however, there was no significant follow-through on transactions at higher price levels.

  1. Analysis of Market Influencing Factors

① Both production increases and decreases occurred among DOP producers, resulting in a slight overall increase in output.

② Market prices rebounded after hitting a bottom, with end-users and traders making moderate restocking purchases ahead of the holiday.

③ Prices of octanol and phthalic anhydride declined, but DOP prices rebounded, leading to a slight increase in the weekly average profit margin.

  1. Next Week's Market Forecast

In the raw materials market, essential demand for octanol is expected to emerge, supported by cost floors, keeping spot prices stable. For phthalic anhydride, the price spread between the ortho-naphthalene method and other methods remains large, suggesting a downward trend for ortho-method phthalic anhydride prices. Based on raw material trends, the cost base for DOP may loosen slightly. Although DOP trading activity began to improve towards the weekend, volatility in the crude oil market remains high. Considering cost fluctuations, mainstream DOP suppliers are moderately controlling shipment volumes, while downstream users continue to maintain essential-demand-based restocking. With the long holiday approaching next week, some essential buying interest is still expected in the DOP market. Low-price offers may disappear, and the average price is likely to remain stable.
