This week, the production of industrial cracked C5 increased by 0.42 million tons compared to last week, representing a growth of 6.73%. This marks a reversal of the continuous decline in cracked C5 production observed since March. The ethylene unit at Lanzhou Petrochemical was shut down for maintenance from March 27 to April 7 before resuming operations. Additionally, based on the recovery of production across various enterprises, the main reasons for the increase are as follows:

  1. Some enterprises had previously depleted feedstocks such as ethane, propane, and butane and have gradually switched to naphtha as feedstock this week.
  2. Some enterprises adjusted the operational loads of their refining and ethylene production units. High inventory levels of refined products and sluggish sales have constrained refining operations, while increasing ethylene production loads helps reduce energy consumption.
  3. Some enterprises, despite not receiving crude oil shipments, have procured alternative feedstocks.

Based on information gathered this week, a few enterprises that had previously suspended cracked C5 supply are expected to resume deliveries. It is anticipated that cracked C5 production may see a further slight increase next week.
