How do feedstock costs and supply cuts affect China's acrylate ester prices?
Recent price rebounds in China's acrylate ester market were driven by rising propylene costs, which added over 1,200 yuan per ton to feedstock expenses. Leading producers, including Wanhua Chemical and Huayi Group, raised offers multiple times in mid-July, with single adjustments of 200-800 yuan per ton. Several plants reduced operating rates, lowering inventories to year-to-date lows. Downstream emulsion producers accelerated contract lifting and spot purchases, supporting demand. Ethyl acrylate prices moved in tandem with butyl acrylate but with narrower adjustments, while isooctyl acrylate rose slightly. The cost-push cycle also lifted styrene and MMA, raising overall raw material costs for downstream formulators.

For buyers, the key signal is inventory levels at producer warehouses. When stocks hit yearly lows and propylene stays firm, further price hikes are likely. Consider locking in contract volumes early rather than waiting for spot dips.
