How does China's PGMEA supply structure affect global electronic-grade availability?
China is the world's largest PGMEA producer, with 2019 capacity near 300,000 tons and output of 268,700 tons. Supply is concentrated in East China (64.4%), South China (15.3%) and Shandong (20.3%). Jiangsu Dyna is the largest domestic producer at 80,000 tons capacity. While industrial-grade is well supplied, electronic-grade PGMEA remains constrained by purification technology and metal ion control. China's electronic-grade market accounts for 23% of global consumption, projected to reach 25.6% by 2029. Global electronic-grade sales reached USD 267 million in 2022, growing at 7.7% annually. Domestic self-sufficiency in photoresist solvents is relatively high, but high-end semiconductor-grade material still requires quality upgrades to meet advanced node requirements.
