Qixiang Tengda's restructuring under Shandong Energy highlights how deep C3/C4 integration is reshaping methacrylate economics. The company operates the world's largest methyl ethyl ketone and maleic anhydride capacities, plus China's largest MMA capacity, and has built a fully integrated chain from propane dehydrogenation to propylene, propylene oxide, acrylic acid and butyl acrylate. This 'squeeze every drop' model converts virtually all C3/C4 fractions into high-value products, with butadiene self-sufficiency above 80% and dual-process flexibility for feedstock sourcing. Operating rates have stayed above 90% since the state-owned parent took control. For butyl methacrylate buyers, this integration trend means supply is increasingly controlled by a few diversified players who can shift feedstock between product lines based on margins, potentially reducing spot availability when acrylic or methacrylate prices lag other derivatives.
