I. Price Trend
Taking the domestically widely traded sulfuric acid-process rutile titanium dioxide as an example, data monitoring from Business Society shows that domestic titanium dioxide prices increased in January. On January 1, the average price of titanium dioxide was 13,740 yuan/ton, and by January 29, it had risen to 13,900 yuan/ton, representing an increase of 1.16%.

II. Market Analysis
Domestic titanium dioxide prices rose in January. In early January, demand for titanium dioxide was moderate, with trading activity slightly subdued, and prices remained stable. By mid-January, the persistently high cost of sulfuric acid as a raw material placed significant cost pressure on manufacturers, leading to firm and upward price quotations. In late January, market sentiment leaned toward price increases, with Titanium Sea Technology announcing a price hike of 500 yuan/ton for domestic titanium dioxide and 70 USD/ton for international prices. As of now, domestic sulfuric acid-process rutile titanium dioxide is mostly quoted between 13,200 and 14,300 yuan/ton, while anatase titanium dioxide is priced around 12,200–12,800 yuan/ton, with actual transaction prices negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

According to customs data, China exported 171,800 tons of titanium dioxide in December 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of 8.49% and a month-on-month increase of 12.88%. Among these, sulfuric acid-process titanium dioxide exports amounted to 127,700 tons, up 8.49% month-on-month, while chloride-process titanium dioxide exports reached 44,200 tons, increasing by 27.83% month-on-month. From January to December 2025, total titanium dioxide exports amounted to approximately 1.8169 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.46%, or about 84,800 tons. This marks the first annual decline in titanium dioxide exports since 2016. Specifically, chloride-process titanium dioxide exports totaled 366,500 tons, up 5.95% year-on-year, while sulfuric acid-process titanium dioxide exports reached 1.4505 million tons, down 6.77% year-on-year.

Customs data also shows that China imported 6,691.21 tons of titanium dioxide in December 2025, a year-on-year decrease of 7.71% but a month-on-month increase of 25.27%. Among these, chloride-process titanium dioxide imports amounted to 3,549.67 tons, down 7.41% month-on-month, while sulfuric acid-process titanium dioxide imports reached 3,141.54 tons, down 2.49% month-on-month. From January to December 2025, total titanium dioxide imports amounted to 74,500 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 18.92%. Specifically, sulfuric acid-process titanium dioxide imports totaled 30,200 tons, down 3.99% year-on-year, while chloride-process titanium dioxide imports reached 44,400 tons, down 26.67% year-on-year.

III. Future Outlook
According to Business Society’s titanium dioxide analyst, production costs have significantly impacted manufacturers this month, leading to considerable pressure. Currently, market sentiment is cautious, with most companies adopting a wait-and-see approach. It is expected that the market will remain stable with a positive outlook in the short term, with actual transaction prices negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
