Iran claims that the situation on Kharg Island is stable and that the country's oil exports continue. ▲ Kharg Island, Iran (file photo) According to Iranian sources on March 17, a spokesperson for the Energy Committee of the Iranian Parliament stated regarding the situation on Kharg Island that life on the island is proceeding as usual, and Iran's national oil exports are continuing uninterrupted. At the same time, ships from the United States, Israel, and their allies have been banned from passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Kharg Island is a strategic location for Iran's energy exports. Previously, Trump stated that the military facilities on Kharg Island had been "completely destroyed," while warning that if Iran or any other country engages in any actions that disrupt the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, he would reconsider his decision not to attack the island's oil facilities. The Iranian military, on the other hand, stated that if the oil facilities on Kharg Island are attacked, all oil and energy infrastructure owned by companies cooperating with the United States would be "immediately destroyed."
