Jiangsu Styrene Port Sample Inventory Weekly Data Analysis (20260831)

Published on 2026-08-31

I. Established Trend Analysis of Jiangsu Styrene Port Inventory

As of August 31, 2026, the total sample inventory of styrene at Jiangsu ports was 3.98 ten-thousand tonnes, down 0.70 ten-thousand tonnes from the same period last week, or -14.96%. The commodity volume inventory stood at 2.35 ten-thousand tonnes, down 0.75 ten-thousand tonnes from the previous period, or -24.19%.

Comparison of weekly data between total sample inventory and commodity volume inventory at Jiangsu styrene ports:

Date Aug 31, 2026 Aug 24, 2026 WoW Change Same Period Last Year YoY
Unit 10,000 tonnes 10,000 tonnes 10,000 tonnes 10,000 tonnes --
Jiangsu port inventory 3.98 4.68 -0.70 19.65 -79.75%
Jiangsu port commodity volume inventory 2.35 3.10 -0.75 9.65 -75.65%

II. Comparison of Sample Inventory Trends and Product Prices

From August 31 to September 6 (7 days), on the information front, and barring unexpected disruptions, styrene vessel arrivals at ports are expected to increase during this period. Downstream demand remains stable, with expectations of a modest improvement, and port offtake volumes are expected to remain steady. On balance, port replenishment supply is expected to be slightly higher than offtake, and moderate inventory accumulation is expected at Jiangsu styrene ports next week.

III. Comparison of Sample Inventory Trends and Product Prices

During the 7 days from August 24 to August 30, domestic trade vessel arrivals increased notably. The total volume of styrene arriving at Jiangsu public social warehouses via vessel, pipeline, and truck unloading was 3.325 ten-thousand tonnes, compared with 5.94 ten-thousand tonnes in the same period last year (7 days). During this period, offtake was 3.925 ten-thousand tonnes, versus 4.190 ten-thousand tonnes in the same period last year.

As of the morning of August 31, the total sample inventory of styrene at Jiangsu ports continued to decline, down 79.75% year-on-year. Based on current port inventory data, the present inventory level is 134.12% higher than the low point since 2022, and 84.54% lower than the high point since 2022. On the current data, it remains in the low range for the corresponding period of the past five years (2021–2025).

Sample description:

Chempricehub Information's Jiangsu styrene port inventory data are real-time styrene inventory figures collected every Monday as primary statistics. The sample covers inventory data from 13 terminal warehousing enterprises in the Jiangsu region.

Term definitions:

  1. Jiangsu port inventory: refers to the physical inventory held in public commercial warehouses or storage tanks located at ports in Jiangsu, including both bonded and non-bonded storage.
  2. Jiangsu port commodity volume inventory: refers to the volume held in public warehouses at Jiangsu ports after excluding styrene raw material quantities designated for downstream use.
  3. Jiangsu port inventory coverage includes Nantong, Changzhou, Jiangyin, Zhangjiagang, and Changshu.

Unified methodology: Chempricehub Information releases Jiangsu styrene port inventory data every Monday from 11:00 to 12:00 on working days.

I see the sharp drawdown as supportive near term, but the expected accumulation and steady downstream demand could limit margin upside. Feedstock cost moves remain key for styrene direction.
