French President Emmanuel Macron posted on social media after a phone call with Israeli President Isaac Herzog on the 24th regarding the situation in the Middle East, calling on relevant parties to cease attacks on energy facilities in the region.
Macron stated that all parties to the conflict should protect civilian and energy infrastructure that sustains people's livelihoods and engage in sincere dialogue to restart negotiations. Iran should restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
He emphasized the need to prevent further escalation of the conflict in Lebanon, and that the country's stability and territorial integrity must be upheld. Direct dialogue between Israel and Lebanon is an opportunity that must be seized, and France is actively mediating in this regard.
He also noted that the regional crisis should not overshadow the situation in Gaza and the West Bank. Gaza is currently facing a humanitarian disaster, and acts of violence against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank should be subject to legal sanctions.
