Butyl acetate prices remained high with narrow fluctuations this week. In the East China market, the lowest price during the week was 8,400 CNY/ton (ex-works, cash basis), while the highest reached 8,500 CNY/ton (ex-works, cash basis). The weekly average price stood at 8,450 CNY/ton, an increase of 25 CNY/ton compared to last week, representing a quarter-on-quarter rise of 0.30%.
At the beginning of the week, raw material acetic acid prices continued to push higher, while n-butanol prices softened slightly within their range. The cost side provided solid bottom support. Additionally, some downstream customers conducted pre-holiday stockpiling, and export orders in certain regions were still being executed. Both cost and demand factors influenced market sentiment, supporting smooth transactions for most manufacturers. Upstream producers focused on inventory clearance before the holiday, and the slight price increases boosted market enthusiasm. As the holiday approached, downstream pre-holiday stockpiling largely concluded, with inquiries mainly driven by rigid short-distance demand. Trading activity cooled off, and prices generally stabilized.
The Zhuhai Qianxin unit restarted after a brief shutdown, while the Anhui Ruibai unit halted operations, leading to a decline in butyl acetate capacity utilization this week.
Downstream buyers purchased based on actual needs, with moderate stockpiling intensity.
The theoretical profit margin for butyl acetate in the East China market was 148.50 CNY/ton this week, an increase of 109.92 CNY/ton from last week, representing a quarter-on-quarter surge of 284.91%.
Currently, the market outlook is cautiously optimistic. Pre-holiday upstream restocking and downstream stockpiling proceeded smoothly, keeping inventory pressure manageable across plants. However, as the holiday atmosphere intensifies, downstream activities and logistics may gradually wind down, raising expectations for inventory accumulation during the break. Attention should be paid to inventory transfer actions by major producers and the price trends of raw materials acetic acid and n-butanol, as costs will continue to influence market sentiment. Chempricehub believes that the butyl acetate market may maintain a stable trend in the short term, with future direction awaiting guidance from post-holiday supply and demand dynamics.
