Morning Market Update for Hydrogenated Benzene

Published on 2026-09-21

I. Key Focus Points

  1. International crude oil prices declined due to improved expectations for the repair of Saudi Arabian oil pipelines, combined with signs of easing tensions in the Middle East.
  2. Yesterday, non-contract spot transactions for pure benzene in Shandong totaled approximately 1,600 tons. Ex-works prices ranged from RMB 9,553 to 9,733 per ton, with an average price of RMB 9,643 per ton, representing an increase of RMB 258 per ton compared to the previous working day.
  3. Yesterday, spot negotiations for pure benzene in East China were conducted within the range of RMB 9,520–9,600 per ton, averaging RMB 9,560 per ton, up by RMB 140 per ton from the previous working day.
  4. Sinopec’s posted price for pure benzene in East China remained stable yesterday at RMB 9,600 per ton.
  5. As of September 14, the total commercial inventory of pure benzene at sampled ports in Jiangsu stood at 38,000 tons, an accumulation of 2,000 tons compared to the previous period's inventory of 36,000 tons.

III. Market Outlook

Yesterday, new order prices for domestic hydrogenated benzene rose. This was driven by gains in the crude oil dark market, low raw material inventories among downstream users of pure benzene domestically, and increased demand ahead of the upcoming holidays. Under conditions of rigid procurement, advantageous supply sources are scarce, leading to upward adjustments in receiving prices and pushing up new order prices for pure benzene and hydrogenated benzene in northern regions. In the short term, hydrogenated benzene demonstrates resilience against declines.

Crude easing didn't hurt cyclohexane; low downstream stocks and holiday demand kept margins firm. Rising port inventories are a slight worry, but current feedstock costs support price stability. I expect short-term stren..
