Chempricehub, November 6 – Phthalic anhydride (PA) market prices in Jiangsu Province declined on November 6. The mainstream negotiated price for PA produced via the ortho-xylene route ranged from RMB 10,500 to 10,600 per tonne, while offers for naphthalene-route PA were quoted at RMB 9,900 to 10,000 per tonne.
Operating rates at domestic PA plants have increased, ensuring stable spot supply in the Chinese market. Crude oil prices continued their weak downward trend, leading to lower costs for key raw materials: ortho-xylene prices fell, and industrial naphthalene prices remained in a weak consolidation pattern, thereby reducing overall production costs for PA.
On the demand side, plasticizer markets experienced volatile declines. Although operating rates at plasticizer producers have rebounded, providing some support for PA demand, downstream procurement remains driven primarily by rigid requirements. Consequently, the overall PA market trend is bearish.
