Based on the Shandong region, today’s propylene oxide price closed at 11,650 CNY/ton, a quarter-on-quarter increase consistent with morning expectations.

Today, the domestic propylene oxide market continued to rise. Supply-side units remained generally stable, maintaining a relatively tight balance. Active plants saw good shipment rates, while market offers were mixed, often involving premium sales. Although cost-driven momentum slowed slightly, downstream raw material inventories remain low. The market remains biased towards rising prices rather than falling ones, with participants largely following passively.

Looking ahead, although cost support is easing, the supply-demand tension remains difficult to change, keeping the market relatively strong. Plants may still anticipate further upside; specific developments warrant attention.

  1. Related Products Status

Propylene Market: Today, propylene prices in Shandong edged higher. The mainstream closing reference was 10,000–10,050 CNY/ton, with an average of 10,025 CNY/ton, up 25 CNY/ton from the previous working day. Strong international crude oil trends, combined with low enterprise inventories, kept offers trending upward. However, downstream willingness to follow was average, limiting the upward momentum of actual transaction prices.

Liquid Chlorine Market: Upstream supply changes were minimal, and enterprise shipments were decent. Downstream demand remained stable with some restocking, leading to a price increase for liquid chlorine in Shandong today. Current prices are 250–300 CNY/ton in the North Shandong (Lubei) area, 200–300 CNY/ton in South and Southwest Shandong areas, and 200–300 CNY/ton in the Jiaodong Peninsula area.

Soft Block Polyether Market: Soft block polyether prices remained high. Assessed references are 12,500–13,000 CNY/ton (cash basis) in Shandong, 12,200–13,000 CNY/ton (delivered cash basis) in East China, and 12,300–13,000 CNY/ton (delivered cash basis) in South China; specific negotiations apply. In the early session, spot prices continued to rise as suppliers raised new offer prices, pushing the market center higher. Downstream inquiry activity was quiet, with most participants adopting a cautious wait-and-see approach.

With PO capacity utilization at 63.67%, supply tightness is driving prices up despite easing feedstock costs. I expect downstream demand for soft block polyether to remain resilient, but prolonged shutdowns could squeeze..
