Pure Benzene Industrial Chain Capacity Utilization Rate Statistics (2026-08-14 to 2026-08-20)

Published on 2026-08-20
Product Current Period Previous Period Change Next-Period Direction
Styrene 61.42% 62.29% Down 0.87 pp
Phenol 67.00% 70.00% Down 3.0 pp
Caprolactam 68.93% 68.44% Up 0.49 pp
Aniline 73.73% 73.70% Up 0.03 pp
Adipic Acid 61.30% 59.80% Up 1.5 pp

Petroleum benzene output was 392,000 tons during the current cycle, up 11,100 tons (2.91%) from the previous cycle, and capacity utilization stood at 65.14%, up 1.84 percentage points from the prior cycle. During the cycle, Shenghong Refining & Chemical restarted a reforming unit, while Lihuayi's reforming unit was shut down for maintenance.

The domestic operating rate for benzene hydrogenation units was 63.44%, up 0.3 percentage points from last week. During the week, units at Shandong Laigang and Zhanhua Yukai were both shut down, while Xinyang and the Phase I unit at Puyang Zhonghui returned to normal operation after brief stoppages.

For styrene, Lihuayi's unit was shut down as scheduled for maintenance, and a few plants made minor adjustments to operating loads; caprolactam units showed normal fluctuations. In phenol, the Shandong phenol/acetone unit was shut down for maintenance, while Formosa Industries (Ningbo) and Wanhua Chemical's phenol/acetone units remained off-line longer than in the previous week, and Gaohua Materials' phenol/acetone unit was restarted around mid-week. In aniline, a long-idled unit at Jilin Xuyang Connell returned to operation. For adipic acid, the Phase IV unit at Chongqing Huafon was in the process of resuming production.

Benzene output rose 2.91% but capacity utilization at 65.14% suggests ample supply. Styrene/phenol cuts may lift margins temporarily, while caprolactam/aniline gains point to mixed downstream demand. Expect cautious feed..
