Pure Benzene Industrial Chain Capacity Utilization Statistics (May 29–June 4, 2026)

Published on 2026-06-05
Product Current Period Previous Period Change Next-Period Direction
Styrene 63.29% 64.74% Down 1.45 pp
Phenol 75.00% 75.00% Stable
Caprolactam 69.48% 69.65% +0.17 pp
Aniline 82.58% 79.07% +3.51 pp
Adipic Acid 63.50% 65.80% Down 2.3 pp

Petroleum benzene output stood at 400.6 kt, up 5.3 kt (0.88%) from the previous cycle, with capacity utilization at 66.70%, up 0.88 pp from the prior cycle. The output increase in the current cycle was mainly attributable to units restarted and newly commissioned in the previous cycle. During the cycle, Wanhua's cracking unit and others resumed operations, while the Sinopec-SK cracking unit, Zhongjin Petrochemical, and Hainan No. 2 Aromatics units were taken offline.

The domestic operating rate of benzene hydrogenation units was 63.76%, down 4.02 pp from last week. China's hydrogenated benzene output this week was 84.6 kt, down 5.3 kt from the prior week. During the week, units at Gansu Shoutu, Tangshan Ruida, and Ningxia Tongde Aixin were all shut down; Henan Yutian's unit was temporarily idled for four days; and Shandong Huneng had not yet resumed operations after completing its rotational inspection.

This week, Shandong Yulong's styrene unit achieved continuous production, contributing steady output, while styrene units in Anhui and Fujian raised their operating loads. Meanwhile, however, styrene units at Shenghong Petrochemical and Zhenhai Lyondell entered their maintenance period. In aniline, one 30-kt unit at Dongying Caijin was undergoing catalyst replacement, while two sets at Shanxi Tianji returned to normal operation. In adipic acid, units at Shandong Haili, Liaohua, Tianli, and Jiangsu Haili were shut down; the Haoyuan unit completed deposit cleaning; some Huafeng units were shut down; at Shenma, one 60-kt unit was shut down with the restart date to be determined, and the 150-kt unit entered maintenance shutdown on May 20 with the start-up date to be announced separately; at Hengli, one line underwent deposit cleaning. Caprolactam units experienced normal fluctuations, while phenol units showed no change.

The mixed downstream capacity utilization tells me the pure benzene chain is still fighting margin pressure; even with supply ticking higher, those styrene and adipic acid cuts signal cautious restocking.
