Today, the domestic 97% fluorspar concentrate market remained high and firm. The fluorspar market atmosphere is somewhat tangled, with upward pressure still evident. Because the long-term outlook is bearish, participants hold mixed views, and the northern and southern markets are not moving in step. The northern market has mostly completed phased procurement, and prices have collectively risen by 50-80 yuan/ton. In the southern market, offers are still concentrated at the high end. Supply from the north has further penetrated the southern market, while local supply has also seen small-lot transactions. Further market development remains to be seen. Current delivered spot prices in major domestic markets are referenced as follows: Inner Mongolia 3,300-3,400 yuan/ton; Zhejiang 3,500-3,600 yuan/ton; Jiangxi and Fujian 3,700-3,800 yuan/ton; Shandong 3,500-3,600 yuan/ton; Northwest China 3,250-3,350 yuan/ton; Henan and Anhui 3,250-3,350 yuan/ton. As of press time, the mainstream delivered price for domestic fluorspar wet powder is referenced at 3,300-3,800 yuan/ton.
In August, the monthly capacity utilization rate of anhydrous hydrofluoric acid was 56%.
The fluorspar market is strongly pushed upward, but the room for further gains is limited. The anhydrous hydrofluoric acid market is strongly supported by costs.
Anhydrous hydrofluoric acid market: Today, the domestic anhydrous hydrofluoric acid market fluctuated within a range. Market sentiment has turned around somewhat recently. At the start of the month, producers had mostly completed their monthly orders and are now mainly delivering contracted supply. Still, participants are cautiously watching the resumption of production at major northern plants. Some spot orders entered the market for inquiries, which lifted sentiment to some extent. Raw material prices moved mixed: as previously expected, the fluorspar market has essentially settled high offers into the mainstream price, while the sulfuric acid market continued to soften. Profit margins remained unsatisfactory. As of press time, the mainstream delivered price for September in the domestic anhydrous hydrofluoric acid market is referenced at 15,050-15,200 yuan/ton.
Sulfuric acid: Today, the Chempricehub price index for 98% sulfuric acid was 1,552 yuan/ton, down 48 yuan/ton from yesterday, in line with morning expectations. China's sulfuric acid market remained mired in deadlock, with the price center continuing to move downward. In Inner Mongolia, sulfuric acid prices broadly declined. In the Bayannur area of western Inner Mongolia, sulfuric acid prices were lowered by 150-180 yuan/ton, as acid plants that had previously been shut for maintenance gradually resumed production, effectively replenishing regional supply. In eastern Inner Mongolia, a major acid producer cut prices by 80 yuan/ton. New capacity has come on stream, increasing regional supply, but another major local acid producer remains shut down for maintenance, so the overall supply supplement is limited. Downstream offtake was flat. In addition, the start of autumn fertilizer stocking has fallen seriously behind schedule, and demand from the key downstream phosphate fertilizer sector was weaker than expected, with enterprises making purchases only on a rigid-demand basis. In Guizhou, the market ran in a stalemate. Smelter acid in the region had previously relied mainly on supplemental supply from Guangxi, but recently low-priced supply from Yunnan has flowed in to supplement the market, making regional smelter acid sources relatively diversified and increasing price sensitivity among some end users. Downstream phosphate fertilizer producers were supported by rigid demand, with stable operating rates and a moderate procurement pace, underpinning sulfuric acid consumption. However, in the phosphorus chemical sector, poor cost pass-through caused enterprises to slow procurement significantly. Buyers kept pressing prices down in new-order negotiations, and buyer-seller bargaining fell into deadlock. Market wait-and-see sentiment is strong, participants are broadly pessimistic, and operations are cautious. Overall, the supply-demand game in the domestic sulfuric acid market continues, prices remain in weak consolidation, and prices still face downward pressure in the short term.
Refrigerant: Based on the East China bulk market, mainstream fluorinated refrigerant R22 producers maintained firm offers, and the market was steady and quiet. As of press time, major East China producers' offers are referenced at 24,000 yuan/ton (coordinated domestic and export quotations); the mainstream East China market offer is referenced at 23,000-24,000 yuan/ton, in line with morning expectations. Market intelligence suggests that mainstream East China producers remain firm in their R22 quotations. Contract orders are being steadily supplied to distributors, while bulk shipments are under pressure, and producers are mainly actively promoting small-packaging sales. In the South China market, shipments have been slow due to objective force majeure factors such as weather. In the East China market, monthly order intake has been poor, purchasing willingness is weak, and promotional selling and destocking dominate. In the short term, the mainstream price for refrigerant R22 (ODS) is referenced at 23,000-24,000 yuan/ton, weak and stable in a stalemate.
