On October 14, Sinopec East China lowered its diethylene glycol (DEG) offer by RMB 350 per ton. Shanghai Petrochemical is quoting at RMB 5,750 per ton with low operating rates. Yangzi Petrochemical and BASF-YPC are both quoting at RMB 5,800 per ton. The BASF-YPC unit, with an annual capacity of 340,000 tons, is currently operating at less than 40% utilization. Market participants hold weak expectations for the near-term outlook.
