Soda Ash Market Stabilizes with Selective Price Increases

Published on 2026-08-24

Currently, soda ash prices are fluctuating, while spot prices are stabilizing, with a few producers making modest upward adjustments to low offers. Downstream demand remains moderate, with purchases largely based on immediate needs. Futures prices have risen, leading to increased procurement from futures-spot arbitrage. Recently, few soda ash plants have scheduled maintenance, though a few are expected to resume operations at the end of the month, keeping supply expectations high. Based on current information, some plants are expected to undergo maintenance next month, which is anticipated to reduce supply.

Recent market focus points for soda ash:

  1. Trading volumes and pending orders for soda ash.

  2. Impact of high freight rates on soda ash imports and exports.

  3. Downstream inventory levels and plant operating conditions.

  4. Soda ash plant maintenance schedules and production cuts.

  5. Soda ash producer inventories and price adjustments.

  6. Futures price fluctuations and macroeconomic drivers.

As maintenance plants resume production and few new maintenance shutdowns are scheduled, soda ash output and operating rates are trending upward, indicating ample supply. Current daily soda ash production stands at around 109,000 tons. Recently, there have been few new plant shutdowns, with most operations running normally. Looking at maintenance plans, some plants are scheduled for maintenance in September, which is expected to reduce supply.

  1. Plant fluctuations, with operating rates adjusting within a narrow range.
