Statistical Report on Capacity Utilization Rate of the Pure Benzene Industry Chain (September 11–17, 2026)

Published on 2026-09-18
Product Current Period Previous Period Change Next Period Trend
Styrene 66.26% 64.55% +1.71 percentage points
Phenol 77.68% 75.00% +2.68 percentage points
Caprolactam 69.22% 68.09% +1.13 percentage points
Aniline 84.48% 81.15% +3.33 percentage points
Adipic Acid 65.30% 66.00% -0.7 percentage points

Petroleum benzene production reached 421,600 tons, a decrease of 3,100 tons from the previous period (-0.73%). The capacity utilization rate stood at 70.06%, down by 0.52% compared to the last cycle. During this period, units at Hongrun Technology and others were restarted, while some enterprises reduced their operating loads.

The operating rate of domestic benzene hydrogenation plants was 59.42%, an increase of 1.82% from the previous week. Weekly production of hydrogenated benzene in China totaled 78,800 tons, up by 2,400 tons from the previous week. Phase II of Henan Jinyuan resumed normal operations during the week, with no other changes to plant status.

Capacity utilization rates for major downstream products—styrene, caprolactam, phenol, and aniline—increased compared to the previous period, while that for adipic acid decreased. For styrene, the Shandong Lihuayi unit was restarted. In the caprolactam sector, Luxi Chemical's Phase III resumed normal production after restart, Tianchen Yaolong recovered, and Shenma slightly increased its load. Regarding phenol, the phenol/acetone units at Huizhou Zhongxin (Phase II) and Meiwu Chemical (Shanghai), which had restarted last week, operated stably this week. For aniline, aside from large northern facilities still undergoing maintenance, other units ran smoothly. Adipic acid plants experienced normal fluctuations.

Rising capacity utilization in styrene and phenol signals stronger downstream demand, yet aniline's projected dip worries me. With petroleum benzene output slipping, I expect feedstock tightness to pressure margins if hy..
