Petroleum-benzene output was 411,400 mt, up 9,700 mt from the previous cycle, an increase of 2.41%. Capacity utilization stood at 69.48%, up 1.64 percentage points from the previous cycle. During this period, Panjin Haoye shut down, while plants in East China and Shandong all raised operating loads.
The domestic hydrogenated-benzene unit operating rate was 71.01%, up 2.12 percentage points from last week. China's hydrogenated-benzene weekly output this week totaled 94,200 mt, an increase of 2,800 mt from last week. During the week, Yunnan Dawei's unit was shut down for maintenance, while Panjin Ruide and Henan Shouchuang units were both restarted.
This week, capacity utilization for the major downstream derivatives—styrene, caprolactam, phenol, and aniline—declined from the previous period, while adipic acid utilization increased. The impact of the styrene unit maintenance in Northeast China on output reduction was mainly reflected in this period, and some styrene units in South China operated at low loads; as a result, the overall operating rate declined this week. For phenol, there were no new unit startups or shutdowns during the period, and the industry's overall operating level remained largely stable. For caprolactam, Dongming Xuyang restarted, Cangzhou Xuyang Phase II began maintenance, Hunan Petrochemical gradually began restarting, and Fujian Eurong restarted. For aniline, the Jinling and Dongying Caijin units returned, with loads currently being raised. Adipic acid units operated with normal fluctuations.
In the next period, considering recent maintenance and restart activities, capacity utilization of pure-benzene downstream units—styrene, adipic acid, and aniline—is expected to rise.
