According to the commodity market analysis system monitored by Commerce Society, the price of activated carbon at the beginning of the month was 12,833 yuan/ton, and at the end of the month, it dropped by 0.52%, to 12,766 yuan/ton.
The domestic activated carbon manufacturers reported weak quotes this month, with coconut-shell activated carbon for water purification (iodine value 1000) factory prices ranging from 11,000-13,500 yuan/ton, iodine value 800 mainstream tax-inclusive factory prices around 9,500 yuan/ton, and iodine value 900 priced between 9,800-10,200 yuan/ton. With the demand season off, companies produce based on sales, ensuring a stable incoming raw material supply.
Currently, factory inventories are generally 30%-40%, with orders extending into January and February; downstream industries such as water purification and food demand remain stable, without a concentrated purchasing wave, limiting potential price increases. The high prices of coconut-shell activated carbon have restricted the enthusiasm for transactions, according to customs data. China's export volume of activated carbon increased by 36% year-over-year and 24% month-over-month in November.
Forecast: Domestic coconut-shell activated carbon transactions may not meet expectations, constrained by cost supports, with limited room for declines. It is expected that the short term will primarily see an oscillating trend in activated carbon prices.
