Weekly Data Analysis of Sulfuric Acid Sample Costs and Profits in China (September 18–24, 2026)

Published on 2026-09-24

I. Qualitative Analysis of Sample Cost and Profit Trends

This week, liquid sulfur prices in the East China region underwent minor adjustments. The reference price for liquid sulfur in East China was 7,405 yuan/ton. Based on this price, the raw material cost for calculating sulfuric acid production is approximately 2,468.33 yuan/ton. Although steam generated from sulfur combustion offsets part of the expenses, when including costs for water, electricity, labor, and equipment depreciation, the total production cost of sulfuric acid stands at 2,370.45 yuan/ton. Currently, the reference market price for sulfuric acid in East China is 2,000 yuan/ton. Among the three primary methods of sulfuric acid production, sulfur-burning acid yields a profit of -366.16 yuan/ton, pyrite-based (ore) acid yields a profit of -206 yuan/ton, and smelter gas acid yields a profit of 820 yuan/ton.

II. Forecast Analysis of Sample Cost Trends

This week, the spot market for sulfur at major domestic ports continued to trade weakly. With the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays approaching, coupled with persistent wait-and-see attitudes among end-users, overall buying enthusiasm remained limited. Trading volumes were low, with transaction prices trending slightly downward within a narrow range. In the domestic auction market, sulfur prices showed mixed movements. The contradiction of supply-demand shortage has not yet been effectively alleviated; however, rigid demand persists in the market, keeping transaction prices at high levels.

III. Product Sample Trends and Price Comparison

Raw material prices have undergone minor adjustments, leading to slight fluctuations in profit margins recently. Future changes in costs and prices are expected, resulting in continuous adjustments to profitability.

Liquid sulfur feedstock costs remain sticky, squeezing margins for sulfur-burning producers while smelter gas routes stay profitable. Weak downstream demand ahead of holidays keeps spot prices soft, risking further inven..
