(Note: Some historical data may have been revised; for this week, please refer to the latest data release.)

Sample description: Chempricehub’s weekly China methanol output and capacity utilization data are first-hand statistics. The sample covers 180 domestic methanol producers, with a sample coverage rate of 100%. The statistical period runs from Friday of the previous week to Thursday of the current week. The data are released at 14:30 every Thursday (working day).

Terminology:

  • Output: Generally refers to the quantity of products meeting relevant standards that a producer actually turns out over a given period. This is not a commercial/shipped volume concept; rather, it denotes the weight or volume of products under a specified system of measurement, i.e., actual output.
  • Capacity utilization rate: Indicates the extent to which a producer’s capacity is utilized, also known as the operating load. It is generally calculated as the ratio of product output or raw material throughput to effective capacity.

Statistical basis: The weekly output and capacity utilization figures cover the period from Friday of the previous week to Thursday of the current week and are released at 14:30 every Thursday (working day).

Data may be revised; figures for the current week are subject to the latest release.

Output ticking up with utilization at 81.9% suggests firm domestic supply, but coke oven gas and Southwest declines highlight regional feedstock constraints. Downstream demand will need to absorb the extra tonnage.
