Weekly Data Statistics on Sample Production Profit in China’s C5 Industry Chain (September 4–10, 2026)

Published on 2026-09-11

On September 10, the price of cracked C5 rose by 6.8%, while dicyclopentadiene, isoprene, and piperylene prices rose by 4.46%, 2.18%, and 3.73%, respectively. The price of cracked C5 residual liquid increased by 5.20%. Overall, the downstream product price increases were smaller than the larger rise in cracked C5 prices, and the loss widened during the week.

Cracked C5 prices are expected to rise significantly next week, while the upside for cracked C5 residual liquid and pentadiene prices is limited. Therefore, C5 separation profit will continue to decline.

Table: Separation Profit of the Cracked C5 Value Chain

Unit: yuan/t

Product Name 9/10 9/4 Change
Industrial cracked C5 7196 6738 458
Dicyclopentadiene (polyester grade) 8660 8290 370
Isoprene (polymerization grade) 13476 13188 288
Piperylene (for petroleum resin) 8740 8426 314
Shandong cracked C5 residual liquid 9100 8650 450
C5 separation profit (theoretical) -143 -64 -79

As a C5 processor, I see feedstock cost rising faster than downstream demand can absorb, so separation margin keeps eroding. If cracked C5 climbs again, capacity utilization may have to be trimmed.
