Weekly Highlights of the Ethylene Glycol Industry (April 14–17, 2026)

  1. A 300,000-ton-per-year syngas-to-ethylene glycol (EG) unit in Guizhou commenced a shutdown for maintenance at the end of March and is expected to restart in late April.

  2. A 300,000-ton-per-year EG unit in East China is scheduled for a full-plant shutdown for maintenance starting May 6, which is expected to last until early July.

  3. As of April 16, the total port inventory of MEG in the main East China port area stood at 851,000 tons. Details are as follows: Zhangjiagang 460,000 tons, Taicang 288,000 tons, Jiangyin and Changzhou 48,000 tons, Shanghai and Changshu 55,000 tons. In terms of port shipments: the average daily shipments from Zhangjiagang this week were around 8,400 tons, and from Taicang around 5,200 tons.

  4. As of April 22, 2026, the total estimated EG arrivals at East China ports in China are 28,000 tons, with Zhangjiagang at 0 tons; Taicang at 0 tons, Ningbo at 14,000 tons, and Jiangyin at 14,000 tons.
