What are the key logistics and cost factors for exporting TCCA from China?
TCCA (trichloroisocyanuric acid) is classified as UN 2468, Class 5.1, Packing Group II, which significantly narrows shipping options. Booking must be made at least 10 days in advance, requiring a full set of documents including MSDS, dangerous goods packaging certificate, and application forms. Notably, only a few carriers like Maersk and MSC consistently accept this product, and many ports refuse it entirely, forcing shippers to seek alternative transshipment hubs. Storage and transport rules are strict: TCCA must be kept away from ammonium compounds, amines, non-ionic surfactants, oxidizers, and reducing agents to prevent combustion. Fire response requires gas masks and sand, not water, as water generates harmful gases. These constraints raise freight costs and complicate supply chain planning for Chinese exporters.

The carrier limitation is a real bottleneck. Exporters should lock in vessel space early and consider splitting shipments across ports to hedge against sudden booking rejections. Also, verify that your freight forwarder has proven experience with Class 5.1 goods, as misdeclaration can lead to severe penalties and shipment holds.
