WY1, the oldest anthracite, is typical of Beijing; WY2 is represented by Shanxi Jincheng's famous 'orchid coal'; WY3 comes from Yangquan. The Qinshui coalfield in Shanxi holds 273 billion tonnes of proven anthracite reserves—about 55% of Shanxi's and 26% of China's total. This region's coal typically has calorific values of 5,800-7,000 kcal/kg. Anthracite's high carbon content (89-97%), low volatility, and high ignition point make it ideal for ammonia synthesis, blast furnace injection, and carbon materials, but its density and hardness complicate combustion in simple stoves.
