Using East China as the benchmark, today's closing price for BPA was 11,100 CNY/ton, within a trading range of 11,000–11,200 CNY/ton. This represents an increase of 400 CNY/ton compared to the previous trading day, aligning with morning expectations. The domestic BPA market experienced a broad upward movement. Significant weekend gains in the raw material phenol and acetone markets created a strong bullish atmosphere at the start of the week. Holders maintained firm prices and exhibited reluctance to sell, leading to higher offer prices. However, downstream demand remained limited to essential needs. With low-priced offers scarce, negotiation centers shifted upward.
Today, the capacity utilization rate for BPA stood at approximately 73%. The industry profit margin for BPA was reported at -1,474 CNY/ton.
The short-term BPA market is expected to maintain firm pricing. Rising cost pressures continue to support holders' efforts to keep prices high, accompanied by reluctance to sell. Downstream terminal demand remains limited to essential purchases. Consequently, the market is projected to trend upward in the short term. It is recommended to closely monitor marginal changes in actual downstream purchasing expectations and the production/shipping schedules of major manufacturers to verify whether demand can stabilize. Traders should proceed with caution.
Phenol: Using East China as the benchmark, today's phenol price closed at 9,875 CNY/ton, an increase of 475 CNY/ton from the previous trading day. The domestic phenol market saw significant gains. Reduced supply in the Shandong region over the weekend prompted substantial upward adjustments in quotes. Combined with rising raw material costs at the start of the week, phenol plants implemented widespread price hikes. Holders maintained positive sentiment, actively offering goods at higher prices. However, downstream terminals were cautious about chasing highs, resulting in slightly lower inquiry intentions for essential needs and a subdued negotiation atmosphere.
Acetone: Using Jiangsu Province as the benchmark, today's acetone price closed at 9,000 CNY/ton, an increase of 465 CNY/ton from the previous trading day. The East China acetone market surged significantly. Shandong factories took the lead in raising opening prices over the weekend, sending clear bullish signals. On Monday, petrochemical enterprises collectively implemented substantial price increases. This boosted holder sentiment, leading to rapid upward revisions in offers. Most downstream buyers adopted a wait-and-see approach, with limited active restocking. Actual transactions were primarily small-lot deals.
Epoxy Resin: Using East China as the benchmark, today's ex-factory net weight price for liquid E-51 epoxy resin closed at 15,000–15,300 CNY/ton, a month-on-month increase of 150 CNY/ton. In the Huangshan area, the spot cash price for solid E-12 epoxy resin (surrounding regions) remained stable at 14,200–14,700 CNY/ton compared to the previous trading day, consistent with morning market expectations. Strong upward momentum in BPA raw material prices caused divergent sentiment among epoxy resin producers. Some plants raised their quotes, but downstream follow-through on actual orders was moderate, limiting the overall rise in market center prices.
Polycarbonate (PC): Today, the domestic PC market exhibited strong bullish momentum. By afternoon close, the negotiated price range for domestic-grade PC in East China was 12,950–15,050 CNY/ton, with the median price increasing by more than 200 CNY/ton compared to last Friday. At the start of the week, two northern PC plants kept their ex-factory prices stable or increased them by 200 CNY/ton. In the spot market, both East and South China witnessed firm upward trends. Driven by significant rises in international crude oil and upstream raw materials, chain costs continued to climb. Boosted by these positive factors, market offers were widely revised upward. Downstream essential demand maintained its pace, but transactions at high prices remained limited.
