PriceSeek analysis of MTBE, with a bullish-bearish score of -1, indicates that on January 8, multiple MTBE producers in Shandong (including Lihuayi Lijin Petrochemical, Shida Shenghua, Shandong Shenchi Chemical, and Dongming Qianhai Chemical) reduced their quotations by 30–60 yuan/ton, with the highest reductions bringing prices down to 4,700–4,820 yuan/ton. This reflects ample market supply or weak demand, leading to downward pressure on spot prices. The reduction in quotations directly lowers the benchmark price for spot transactions, potentially causing downstream buyers to adopt a wait-and-see approach and further suppressing prices. In the short term, MTBE spot prices face general bearish pressure, with limited declines expected but continued downward pressure anticipated.
