Published on 2026-01-05

According to the latest customs data from the South African Revenue Service (SARS), South Africa's coal exports in November 2025 amounted to 6.4372 million tons, a decrease of 10.53% month-on-month and 3.89% year-on-year. After statistical revisions, South Africa's cumulative coal exports from January to November 2025 totaled 65.81 million tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 2.2%.

PriceSeek analysis of coking coal, with a long-short score of 1: South Africa's coal exports decreased by 10.53% month-on-month and 3.89% year-on-year, indicating a tightening of short-term supply, which is favorable for spot prices of coking coal. The reduction in supply may drive up international spot market prices for coking coal and stimulate demand-side stockpiling. Combined with coking coal futures data, the closing price of the main contract 2605 was 1,115 yuan per ton, an increase of 5.5 yuan, with an open interest of 448,555 lots. This news may reinforce the upward trend in futures and bolster market bullish sentiment.
