ChemPriceHub Important Reminder: Brazil's Cotton Export Volume Increased by 20.27% Year-on-Year
Published on 2026-01-13

According to agricultural export data from Brazil's Ministry of Trade, during the second week of January 2026, spanning six working days, a total of 136,300 tons of unprocessed cotton were shipped. In comparison, the figure for January of the previous year was 415,600 tons. The average daily shipment volume reached 22,700 tons per day, marking a 20.27% increase from the 18,900 tons per day recorded in January of the previous year.

PriceSeek's analysis of cotton assigns a long-short score of -1.5. The 20.27% year-on-year increase in Brazil's average daily cotton shipments, reaching 22,700 tons per day, indicates a rise in global market supply, exerting downward pressure on spot cotton prices. Combined with the latest cotton futures data from the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (for instance, the settlement price of the 2605 contract was 14,565 yuan per ton, down by 170 points), the expectation of supply growth may further reinforce the downward trend in futures prices, negatively impacting market sentiment.
