Morning Market Update: Sulfur

Published on 2026-10-14
  1. Market Review

Yesterday, the transaction price for imported granular sulfur was 7,050 yuan/ton, a decrease of 25 yuan/ton from the previous period (-0.35%). The shift in bargaining power led to unstable market sentiment, causing prices to trend downward. Domestic refining and petrochemical enterprises entered the market to conduct sulfur trading, increasing circulating supply. Consequently, the on-site futures price for domestic solid sulfur fell below 6,700 yuan/ton. In Shandong, liquid sulfur prices declined slightly within a narrow range; local refinery auction transactions were priced at 6,795–6,853 yuan/ton. Amidst persistent inventory pressure, refinery auction prices continued to drop, attracting downstream end-users to purchase at lower levels. As some rigid demand was released, market activity improved compared to earlier periods, leading to an upward shift in transaction prices. In Northwest China, some factories experienced failed auctions yesterday, with mainstream transactions ranging from 6,450 to 6,725 yuan/ton. Liquid sulfur prices in Northeast China remained stable, with mainstream market prices between 7,250 and 7,306 yuan/ton. In the short term, port markets are expected to consolidate at high levels with slight downward adjustments, while liquid flows and domestic solid sulfur may continue to fluctuate weakly.
