Published on 2026-09-30

Chempricehub reported on September 30 that, based on its data estimates, the current weekly average cost of vinyl acetate produced via the calcium carbide method in China stands at RMB 7,193.33 per ton. The unit consumption of vinyl acetate required to produce one ton of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is approximately 1.7–1.9 tons, resulting in a theoretical weekly average cost for PVA of RMB 9,867.33 per ton. Using Great Wall Energy & Chemical’s posted price of RMB 1,799 as a reference, the theoretical gross margin—including crude methyl acetate—amounts to RMB 2,332.7 per ton.
