Statistics on Capacity Utilization Rate of the Pure Benzene Industry Chain (2026/06/19–06/25)

Petroleum benzene output was 395,700 mt. Down 1,000 mt from the previous cycle, representing a change of -0.25%, and the capacity utilization rate stood at 65.89%, down 0.17 percentage points from the previous cycle. During this period, units at Shengxing Petrochemical and Wantong Petrochemical underwent maintenance.

The domestic operating rate for benzene hydrogenation units was 54.97%, down 4.55 percentage points from the previous week. Hydrogenated benzene weekly output was 72,900 mt, a decrease of 6,100 mt from the previous week. During the week, Ningxia Tongde Aixin and Henan Shouchuang units were restarted. Henan Yutian (one set), Shandong Hengxin, Xuecheng Energy, and Panjin Ruide units were all shut down, while load at Henan Jinyuan and Xinyang was reduced.

This week, capacity utilization for key downstream products styrene and caprolactam increased compared with the previous period, while utilization for aniline, adipic acid, and phenol decreased. For styrene, the ethylbenzene dehydrogenation unit at Zhejiang Petrochemical and the styrene unit at Panjin Baolai resumed production last week and contributed full output this week. For aniline, Fujian Wanhua entered maintenance; one 100,000 mt/yr unit at Jinling had a short 3-day shutdown; Huatai underwent maintenance from June 22 to June 30. For caprolactam, Lunan reduced load for a short period, Sanning's load dropped to slightly below 60%, and Baling Hengyi's load fell to around 60%. For phenol, the phenol/acetone units at Changchun Chemical and Shandong Ruilin successively entered shutdown status. Adipic acid units experienced normal operational fluctuations.

In the next period, considering recent maintenance and restart activities, capacity utilization is expected to increase for styrene and caprolactam, while decreasing for phenol, aniline, and adipic acid.

    Mixed utilization across the pure benzene chain shows weak downstream demand, especially for phenol/aniline. Feedstock cost support looks limited; margin recovery may depend on styrene and caprolactam restarts.
